Victoryseeker Phone Coach
Program
RealVictory is a two-step program designed to reduce recidivism. First, probationers and parolees attend a six-session training course that teaches how to examine and change beliefs, behaviors and consequences. . Each training program is 1 ½ hours long and is delivered to groups of 8-20 participants. By the end of the course, participants use their newly mastered skills to set goals and create a plan for successful personal change.
Second, each participant is enrolled in a year-long phone coaching process that supports their personal change plan. Each person receives daily phone calls that follow up on their progress and support them as they change their lives. These calls are automated and timed according to the individual’s unique circumstances, and they include messages of encouragement and support from family and friends. When combined with the cognitive behavior training, the cell phone technology is the crucial component that enables people to break old habits and create new patterns of pro-social behaviors.
Phone Coach
The phone coach is an automated process. The participant's goals and schedule are entered into the system and the system calls the participant according to the schedule set by the participant.
Each call consists of three short questions. First, it asks if the participant has followed the goal since the last phone call. Next, it asks how much effort the participant has put forth to accomplish one of the steps required to achieve the goal. Finally, it asks what results the efforts have produced.
Participants answer each question using the keypad on their phone and their responses are instantly analyzed to assess their progress. If their progress meets the criteria set earlier, a prerecorded positive message is played at the end of the call. If correction is needed, a prerecorded encouragement message is played. These messages can be recorded by friends, family or anyone the participant invites. The messages can be updated at any time, as directed by participants or professional counselors.
Professional counselors, participants, or other administrators can observe participant progress at the www.victoryseeker.com website.

Each participant has his or her own time line of call usage and summary of responses.

The phone coach program also shows specific points and frequency of data collected.

As part of the program, calls can made at anytime of day to fit the participants needs.
Participants can work on specific goals. They can change these at any time and work on them until the goal is reached.
Training
The RealVictory training is value neutral. We go to great lengths not to state what is right or wrong. Instead, we teach a process of examining the participant's needs, beliefs, behaviors and results. Then the participants use the model to discover their own conclusions.
The training includes the ideas that everything we do is driven by 4 basic needs: to live, to love and be loved, to feel important and to have variety. As we grow we develop basic beliefs about how to achieve these needs. Our beliefs create a filtering system (which we label as the "belief window") through which we filter our interactions with the world. The beliefs on the belief window drive our behavior. If I believe X, then my behavior will be Y. If we want to change our behaviors, we need to understand and change the beliefs that are driving those behaviors, for example.
Some of the key points covered during training:
During the course of the training, participants learn to set goals; then set goals for changes they wish to make. Once their goals are set, participants use the RealVictory phone coach to reinforce the training materials and provide support for their goals.
