Research
RealVictory began research of the cognitive behavior training program and automated cell phone coaching in 2005. Two years ago, RealVictory partnered with Brigham Young University to conduct a longitudinal study about the impact of this program. Last year, researchers from the University of Utah joined the project. We also began a partnership with Carl Reddick, Oregon, in order to apply our measurement designs to evaluate the effectiveness of the similar cognitive behavior training being conducted in Tillamook County, Oregon.
To date, 310 adult and juvenile probationers from Utah, Salt Lake, and Tillamook, Oregon, Counties have participated in the study.
Publications
Researchers have presented findings on the success of RealVictory to the Pacific Sociological Association, the American Probation and Parole Association, and the Society for Prevention Research. In addition, they are submitting its findings for publication in Parole and Probation Monthly, Quantitative Criminology, Journal of Criminology, and The Journal of Prevention Science.
Methodology
Adult and juvenile parolees and probationers from Utah County, UT, and Tillamook County, OR, were randomly selected to participate in our two-year study. Real Victory participants were then tracked and interviewed monthly for one year to identify changes in behavior and attitudes. Participants’ criminal records were also subsequently compared with other probationers’ criminal records who had not gone through RealVictory in order to identify RealVictory’s impact.
